Fighting fire with fibre - the role of microbial metabolites on mucosal gut homeostasis and diabetes

One explanation for the rising incidence of diabetes and complications such as CVD and CKD centres around the gut microbiota. This workshop will explore the hypothesis that inflammation alters our gut microbiota and a healthy diet can restore our good commensal microbiota by increasing the production of intestinal metabolites that have beneficial properties. Targeting the gut microbiota-immune axis has an exciting potential to mitigate the risk of developing metabolic complications and autoimmunity.
