Professor Stephen P Myers PhD BMed NDThe Foundation Director of NatMed Research, the Natural and Complementary Medicine Research Unit in the School of Health and Human Sciences at Southern Cross University. In his previous appointment, Stephen was the Foundation Director of the Australian Centre for Complementary Medicine Education and Research (ACCMER), a unique joint venture of University of Queensland & Southern Cross University. From 1996 to 2001, he was the Foundation Head of the School of Natural & Complementary Medicine at Southern Cross University, where he still pays an active role. The School was the first academic unit in naturopathic medicine in an Australian University and is pioneering education & research in this field. Professor Myers has been extensively involved with naturopathic medicine education at under-graduate and postgraduate level in Australia for the past 20 years. He is actively engaged in research in herbal medicine, nutraceuticals, therapeutic foods and in public health issues in complementary medicine and has acted as consultant to industry, government and educational institutions on a broad range of issues involving natural medicine. |
