Dr Ellen Maxwell

Dr Maxwell has been Director of Haematology at Melbourne Pathology for the past three years. She is a University of Melbourne graduate and completed combined fellowships with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia. She trained initially at the Austin and Repatriation Hospitals and later the Alfred Hospital where she developed her interest in congenital and acquired bleeding disorders, thrombosis and transfusion medicine. Dr Maxwell is involved in teaching and education for medical students, advanced trainees in haematology, nursing staff and GPs. She has worked on several haematology committees of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia and is on the Victorian Government working party for better, safer transfusion (BeST).
