1. Nutrients in Brain Development for Kids

Significance of nutrients and iodine deficiency for normal cognitive development The recent mandatory fortification of bread with iodine has highlighted the current widespread deficiency of this mineral. It is important that GPs are aware of the critical role iodine plays in the health of the Australian population and in normal child development in particular and can advise patients on levels needed to address their needs. Iodine deficiency is recognised by WHO & UNICEF as the commonest preventable cause of mental defect in the world today. This seminar will also discuss the role of a range of other nutrients commonly seen at deficiency levels in children.
