Osteoporosis - Treating patients with osteoporosis for the long term
Treatment adherence or compliance poses a problem for many long-term, chronic conditions including osteoporosis. This workshop will address the issues relating to compliance as well as monitoring response to treatment to
ensure that patients benefit from the continued fracture risk protection possible with effective therapy. Finally, the evidence regarding the long-term effects of bisphosphonates and other osteoporosis therapies will be reviewed and its relevance in clinical practice with respect to a “drug holiday” will be discussed.
