3. PCOS - Health Effects
Polycystic ovaries are present in 20% of the general female population. The polycystic ovary syndrome which causes irregular periods, hirsutism, infertility and obesity occurs in 25% of these women. Different aspects of
this condition affect the young women verses the older women trying to conceive a child. Diagnosis and the latest treatment recommendations for
young and older women for each presenting symptom will be discussed.
