Prostate Problems- Management, interpretation of results and the latest on surgical techniques
The field of prostate problems including benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer continues to rapidly evolve. There are now many controversies including who to test for prostate cancer, who might benefit from the diagnosis of prostate cancer, what treatment is ideally suited to an individual patient, what technique of surgery is ideal, the role of robotics, and the role of some of the new technologies such as cyber knife and focal therapy. As well as this there are difficult case management issues related to PSA interpretation. Recently the Urological Society has changed its stance on PSA testing and one of the first randomised controlled trials of testing has reported throwing even more confusion into this area. The seminar aims to give an evidence based and practical approach to some of these issues maximising benefit and minimising harm to all our prostate cancer patients.
