ALM N - Surgical / Practical Medicine

This ALM looks at basic practical skills required within the confines of the GP's surgery. This ALM aims to teach and reinforce the skills that are required in general practice and to help the GP gain the knowledge, skills and competency and therefore the confidence to perform these procedures. Also included are more advanced skills such as advanced suturing and flap repairs that would be of more interest for the rural and outer metro GPs. Interactive and practical workshops will help GPs to hone their skills in the treatment of fractures, suturing, biopsy and flap repair techniques. Other topics covered include presentations regularly faced in general practice including ophthalmology and ENT. CPR skills training will also be offered.

This ALM constitutes 6hours of education – 5 of which are interactive either with case presentations, role plays, discussions or practical skills. Each activity makes provision for a Q&A session which the facilitator helps coordinate. Delegates must include at least 4 of the interactive activities, that is, two thirds of the ALM, to qualify for this ALM.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
