The topics covered in this module represent a diverse range of conditions that are frequently encountered in General Practice. Conditions which if correctly managed can be prevented and their risk factors if recognised early can prevent or slow progression. Rigorous research, delegate surveys (GPM11 and GPS11 survey results) and needs assessment (see below) has shown GPs come across daily in general practice. The therapeutic areas covered not only include the traditional Diabetes, Venous thromboembolism and Musculo-skeletal problems but also other common problems such as stroke prevention, hepatitis B, prevention of complications of smoking, haemachromatosis and sleep management,
This ALM constitutes 6 hours of education – 4 of which are interactive either with case presentations, role plays, discussions or practical skills. Each activity makes provision for a Q&A session which the facilitator helps coordinate. Delegates must include 4 of the interactive workshop activities, that is two thirds of the ALM, to qualify for this ALM. The remaining 2 hours may be chosen from the seminars or other interactive workshops
