Active Learning Modules (ALMs) provide an opportunity for a GP to earn 40 category 1 points. ALMs provide quality, structured education directed to acheiving demonstratable changes in the performance, knowledge, skills, behaviour and attitudes of GPs. Each module consists of a pre-disposing activity, structured learning activities and a reinforcing activity and evaluation.
To complete an ALM at the GPCE, delegates can choose from 16 ALM streams that have been specifically designed for General Practice. Delegates must complete predisposing material which will be available 4 weeks prior to the conference. At least four of the six ALM sessions must be workshops and the remaining two can be seminars or workshops. At the conclusion of the conference, GPs then complete the reinforcing and refective activity and place the forms in the box provided at the end of the conference.
