This session will outline the accepted pre-hospital triage process in the event of a major incident or mass casualty situation. The Australian Council of Ambulance Authorities have all agreed to move to a standard pre-hospital triage system for use in mass casualty and major incident management. This system is now being used in a number of countries around the world and provides a consistent approach to triage, tagging and labelling of casualties. The session will outline the triage sieve and sort process that is used by ambulance authorities throughout Australia.
