This session will outline the NSW Health emergency management arrangements within NSW and how NSW Health works with other agencies to provide a coordinated response to a health emergency. The State Emergency and Rescue Management Act 1989 (NSW) provides the guidance on how emergencies will be managed / controlled within NSW. This includes the development and publication of the State Disaster Plan and various sub-plans and supporting plans. The NSW Health Functional Area Plan provides strategic guidance on the five contributing components of the Health Response within NSW – Medical, Public Health, Ambulance, Mental Health and Health Communications.
