Associate Professor Luis Vitetta

Luis is currently Associate Professor and Director of the Centre for Integrative Clinical and Molecular Medicine, University of Queensland, School of Medicine.

Previously he was Senior Research Fellow and Associate Professor at the Centre for Molecular Biology and Medicine at the Epworth Medical Centre in Melbourne and during 2000–2005 he was the Deputy Head and Director of Research of the Graduate School of Integrative Medicine at Swinburne University. He has served as a member of the Victorian Cancer Council’s Epidemiology group, was an alternate Director of the Victorian Public Health Research and Education Council and member of its research committee.

Luis was also a Senior Research Associate with the University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Medicine – Centre for Palliative Care at Caritas Christi Hospice and St Vincent’s Hospital and prior to which, he was a University of Melbourne Research Fellow with the Faculty of Medicine’s Department of Surgery at the Austin and Repatriation Medical Centre.

Assoc Prof Vitetta is a University of Melbourne graduate from the Department of Surgery / Faculty of Medicine. He has also studied medicine at the National University of La Plata Medical School in his native Argentina. He has various research interests that include mind–body medicine, nutrition / functional foods / pro–oxidant cellular signalling systems, herbal medicines and immune system function. He is an invited speaker at numerous local and international conferences.
