Australian Lung Foundation
"When you can't breathe ... nothing else matters"
The Australian Lung Foundation is the leading charity dedicated to supporting people affected by lung disease in Australia. This organisation aims to ensure lung health is a priority for all in Australia through the provision of a number of patient and health professional resources and programs. These resources and programs include a telephone support line, a national network of support groups, regular newsletters, publications for patients and health professionals, patient education resources, clinical support tools for health professionals, and training programs for health professionals.
While the Lung Foundation focuses on all aspects of lung health, key program areas deliver initiatives to assist in reducing the impact of lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, interstitial and orphan lung diseases, respiratory infectious disease and chronic cough. These programs are supported by key opinion leaders in respiratory medicine who provide clinical advice and strategic guidance.
At GPCE 2012 the focus of the Lung Foundation is on general practice resources to assist in the diagnosis and management of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. In particular these resources include Stepwise Management of Stable COPD, the Primary Care Respiratory Toolkit, COPD-X Management Guidelines, and COPD Online (a training program for primary care nurses).
